Treebuildr diary - part 1

Treebuildr is an ongoing personal project which I’m building with my buddy Danilo Di Cuia.

The project started when Danilo went to a family gathering and decided to try and collect the names and photos of everyone there in an interactive family tree.

The original prototype was built using the D3 javascript framework which is used for data manipulation and visualisation in a web browser.

When I saw this first prototype I thought ‘hey this is cool - I wish I could use this myself’. And the rest, as they say, is history.

I want to capture the development of the website as it evolves. It’s something I’ve wanted to do for a while now - too many design projects are only ever viewed as finished pieces, when the most interesting bit is the story of the development.
